Guest curators Julia Yezbick and Ben Gaydos
How deep does summer go?
For CC6, we welcome guest curators from the Mothlight Microcinema, who bring with them a program of experimental film and video from the artists of Detroit, who will plumb the depths of Midwestern summertime, and perhaps begin to contemplate the shortening of days and the coming fall. The films from Detroit will be accompanied by a selection of local work on the same theme, including filmmakers such as Laska Jimsen, Rini Yun Keagy, Jason Coyle, Alan Gerlach, Tyler Lauer, and more.
Come in out of the sticky heat and the high buzz of cicadas, and join us in the dark with a cold drink to contemplate the season through someone else’s eyes before heading out into the last of it.
Mothlight Microcinema screens avant-garde and experimental film, video, and animation in Detroit, MI. We are roving microcinema that teams up with various venues across Detroit to bring high-quality programs to the public free of charge. We often feature the work of local filmmakers and curate programs to situate their work within a broader historic and aesthetic context. We also run a filmmaker-in-residence program and bring in international artists who attend the screenings to discuss their work with the audience.
